2013 International Conference on Buddhism and Australia to be held in Perth

The 2013 International Conference on Buddhism and Australia will be held from January 23 to 25 in Perth, Western Australia. According to the website, the overarching subject of the conference will be “History, current presence, and future directions for Buddhism in the Austral-Asian region.”

The conference is geared toward everyone — monastics, scholars, practitioners, academics, and members of the general public.

Paper submissions are being accepted. There will be a 30-minute presentation limit. There will be four working panels:

  • History
  • Philosophy
  • Texts (Sutras, Tantras, commentaries, translations )
  • Open topics related to Buddhism, like “Buddhism in Contemporary Society,” “Buddhism and Contemporary Astrophysics ,” “Buddhist Art,“ “Buddhism in Europe,” etc.

Papers presented at the conference will also appear on the website.
