Fearless at Work: Rediscovering Our Natural Confidence, with Michael Carroll
|March 30, 2013|
|10:00 am||to||4:00 pm|
The workplace presents us with tough challenges: resolving difficult conflicts, balancing personal ambition while helping others, recognizing facts rather than buying “spin,” or making a delicate job transition. And given the simple reality that our jobs, like everything else in life, are not guaranteed, it’s little wonder we often find ourselves hoping for the best and fearing the worst. Perhaps our workplace challenges require that we find more than solutions to problems or a new, “more secure” job — maybe we are being invited to reawaken our spiritual confidence. Drawing on material from his new book Fearless at Work, Michael Carroll will guide participants in exploring such questions as:
• How can the “irony of cowardice” offer insight into living a fearless life?
• How can we engage conflicts confidently, more artfully bringing the best out of difficult situations?
• What is the practice of rousing “fearless abundance,” and how can it dispel doubt and confusion?
• How can mindfulness awareness meditation train our minds so we can rediscover our natural confidence?
The day will offer participants opportunities to practice mindfulness-awareness meditation, receive meditation instruction, participate in group contemplative exercises, and discuss the role work plays in cultivating a spiritual life.
