Meredith Monk joins Naropa University as guest lecturer in March

Musician Meredith Monk has been named Naropa University’s 2013 Frederick P. Lenz Distinguished Guest Lecturer in Buddhist Studies and American Culture and Values. As part of her residence at Naropa, several artistic events are scheduled for next week.

Monk will perform a solo concert on Wednesday, March 13, at 8 p.m. at the Boulder Theater. Tickets range from $20 to $40; click here for more information and to order tickets. On March 14, Monk will join Naropa faculty member Lama Sarah Harding for a discussion on Buddhism and art; click here for more information and tickets. The following evening, Monk will give a multifaceted performance exploring her artistic process. The talk will include musical performances and video clips, and will end in a question-and-answer period. “Archaeology of an Artist” will be presented on Friday, March 15, 2013, at 8:00 p.m., at Naropa’s Performing Arts Center. Monk will also cofacilitate a Naropa University-sponsored workshop, “Uncovering Treasures of Body, Speech, and Mind,” alongside acclaimed performance artist Lanny Harrison and Acharya and author Judy Lief, on Saturday, March 16, and Sunday, March 17, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., also at Naropa’s Performing Arts Center.
