Memorial for Toni Packer announced for October 12

From the staff of the Springwater Center comes this announcement following the death of their founding teacher, Toni Packer, as reported here last weekend:

“A memorial gathering for Toni’s friends and family will be held at Springwater Center on Saturday, October 12, beginning at 9 a.m. To honor her work, the memorial will begin with an hour-long period of silent meditation, then a recorded talk by Toni, followed by a period of sharing our appreciation of her life and our work together.

“Everyone is welcome to bring photos, poems, music (or musical instruments to play) and short readings that you feel reflect your relationship with Toni and what she means to you. A memory board will be available to post some items.

“Lunch will follow the gathering, at approximately 1 p.m. There will be time to talk informally together, listen to music that Toni loved, view photos on the memory board, or simply walk the beautiful Center trails through fields and woods — many will remember encountering Toni on similar walks in past years.

“So that we have a sense of how many plan to attend, please contact the receptionist at the Center, The information in this email and any subsequent information about the memorial gathering will be posted on the web site:

“If you live nearby and would like to bring a dish to share for the lunch, please feel free to do so. Space for overnight accommodation is limited. If you live within an hour’s driving distance, and can offer accommodation and/or transportation for those coming from far away, please contact the receptionist at the above email address. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.”
