Appeal for donations to support Thai monk nearly beaten to death in Oklahoma

Thai Buddhist monk Weera "Tony" Chulsuwan, with some of the rescue animals he cares for at his home in Spencer, OK

Kobutsu Malone of the Engaged Zen Foundation has issued an appeal to support Weera “Tony” Chulsuwan, the 66-year-old Thai Buddhist monk who we reported as being nearly beaten to death by two teenagers at his home in Spencer, OK, during a robbery attempt.

Chulsuwan, who has been released from the hospital, reportedly lives an austere life (no electricity or running water) and uses much of his $350 per month income to care for a number of rescue animals. Now he is facing medical and ambulance bills beyond his means.
