First female geshe to speak in New York, California
People on both American coasts will soon have an opportunity to hear teachings from the first woman ever to have earned the advanced degree in Buddhist philosophical studies know as “geshe.”
Tomorrow night, German-born Buddhist nun Geshe Kelsang Wangmo will be hosted by Tibet House NY, speaking on “What Is the Self?” Then, on November 5, she will offer a more personal talk at Vajrapani Institute, about her experience earning the geshe degree.
Gesge Kelsang Wangmo completed the 17-year curriculum on the Great Canonical Texts at Dharmasala, India’s Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, in 2011.
