Gus Mancini’s Sonic Soul Band to Perform at Zen Mountain Monastery
Capping off the Buddha’s Enlightenment Vigil weekend at Zen Mountain Monastery, Gus Mancini’s Sonic Soul Band will perform a concert at the Sangha House on Sunday, December 8, at 7 pm.
Drawing on influences from Monk to funk, the Sonic Soul Band create spellbinding and exciting musical landscapes. These four world-class musicians come from disparate places, yet perform with a collective freedom, a summoning grounded by a mutual respect and absolute conviction that whatever they share works — and it does, from tender saxophone to popping funk bottoms, sonic-searing guitar energy, and vivid melodies, with harmonic richness that has marveled audiences wherever they’ve played.
Gus Mancini’s Sonic Soul Band is: The Sultan of Sonic Soul, saxophonist Gus Mancini; guitarist Peter Head; Michael Colletti on bass; and Ruperto Ifil on drums. Read more about them here.
Tickets are $12; you can make a reservation online, or by calling (845) 688-2228.
