Full Moon Loving-Kindness Practice and Refuge Ceremony
|August 10, 2014||to||December 6, 2014|
To support loving-kindness (metta) practice around the world, we will meditate together on nights when there is a full moon.
Metta meditation is an antidote to fear and anxiety, and a complement to the cool clarity of wisdom. The Refuge Ceremony is an opportunity to own and forgive our mistakes of the past, and reaffirm our intentions to live in harmony with our deepest truth.
Our evening will begin with the Refuge Ceremony at 7:00 p.m. to settle our past unskillful actions. After the ceremony (at about 7:30 p.m.) we’ll have a guided period of metta meditation, followed by walking meditation and a period of silent metta. We’ll finish the evening by chanting the Metta Sutta, which are the Buddha’s instructions on metta (you can read the text in our chant book, on page 46).
All are welcome! For more information, please go to zendust.org/heartofwisdom or call 503-728-0654.
