Obama quotes Caddyshack’s Dalai Lama anecdote in homage to Harold Ramis

Today, in remembering Harold Ramis, who died yesterday, US President Barack Obama made reference to this famous scene from Ramis’s Caddyshack, saying, “our thoughts and prayers are with Harold’s wife, Erica, his children and grandchildren, and all those who loved him, who quote his work with abandon, and who hope that he received total consciousness.”

Don’t miss our feature article on Ramis, in which Perry Garfinkel looks at how his humor and spirituality informed and fed one another. You can read it online here or view/download a PDF here. (And, of course, the president actually met with the Dalai Lama earlier this week. More on that here.)
